Beer Guides and Stories

Beer Detours
Beer detours are worthwhile stops but don't fit into any of the travelogues. Think of them as 'while you are in the neighborhood'.

Visit their websiteBridge of Allan Brewery , Bridge of Allan, Scotland [September 2002, beer only] This is a two-fer. Many visitors to Scotland visit Stirling for the castle and the William Wallace Monument. What is just up the road? Doune Castle where Monty Python and the Holy Grail was filmed and the Bridge of Allan Brewery.

Visit their websiteIndian Wells Brewing , Inyokern, CA [December 2005, beer only] Driving from Los Angeles to Las Vegas? An hour and a half detour (getting there/tasting beer/getting back) off I-15. Opens early.

Visit their websiteLa Chouffe , Achouffe, Belgium [September 2005, food & beer] Located a few miles outside of Bastogne, scene of the heroic defense during the Battle of the Bulge by the 101st Airborne. A wonderful place for great Belgian beer and good food.

Visit their websiteT.H. Brewster's - Staying at LAX? You have to check out T.H. Brewster's at the Four Points Sheraton. Named one of "L.A.'s top five tap houses", they have a limited but excellent selection of draft beer plus a huge selection of bottled beer.

Here you will find stories about some of our trips and guides to some of our favorite destinations.
